Here is the main trailer for the film. I have tried to add the subtitles such that they don't disturb the stunning visuals.

Lotte Entertainment shared the character introductions. Here is the clip, cued to Siwan's character - Yun Bok Suh.

Here is the main poster.

Here is the English translation using Google Translate with minor edit. Thank, @jeaniepakjp for the help.

Siwan trained hard to acquired the sturdy form and posture of a marathoner, lowering body fat to 6%

Yim Siwan plays "Suh Yoon-bok," an indomitable marathoner who dreams of becoming the second Son Kee-chung, in the movie 1947 Boston.

Yim Siwan, who has built a solid filmography across movies and dramas, will meet with audiences at this Chuseok theater as marathoner Suh Yoon-bok in the movie 1947 Boston. It’s the story of marathoners' challenges and heartbreaking journey to participate in international competitions with the Taegeuk mark for the first time since liberation in 1947.

Yim Siwan, an actor who immediately built a reputation as soon as he appeared in the drama "Moon Embracing the Sun," drew 11.37 million viewers through the movie "Attorney", and captivated both the small and big screens.

Suh Yoon-bok, a national team member of the Boston Marathon in 1947 and dreaming of becoming the second Son Ki-jung, has never learned to run properly due to difficult family circumstances. But he is an indomitable marathoner who sweeps various competitions with strength and willpower. Yim Siwan, who was completely immersed in the character, went through intensive physical training, including continuous practice enough to naturally match the marathoner's posture, behavior, and facial expressions, as well as consistently participating in marathon competitions.

In addition, thorough diet management was conducted to recreate the marathoner's solid and sturdy body, lowering body fat to 6% and maximizing the synchronization rate with real people.

Director Kang Je-kyu said, "On the first day of filming, I got goosebumps as soon as I saw Yim Siwan on the screen. He’s an actor who gives thrill and pleasure to the director," he praised highly.

Expectations are high for Yim Siwan, who showed a constant affection for the marathon by practicing marathons in his spare time and participating in the 10km marathon competition even after filming, to become "Suh Yoon-bok" himself.

(In fact, he has finished 21km half marathon recently.)

On 31 August there was a press conference for the film. Here are a few clips from the same. Though without English subtitles.

Here is more about the press conference from @everydaysiwan

On this day, director Kang Je-gyu expressed his feelings ahead of the release, saying, "I'm excited and nervous because I'm meeting the audience for the first time in a very long time. Recently, a lot of things have happened internally and externally in the Korean film industry and content industry. That's why I'm even more nervous."

'1947 Boston' is a story about the challenges and thrilling journey of marathon runners to participate in international competitions wearing the Taegeuk symbol for the first time after liberation in 1947.

Director Kang Je-gyu explained, “Because it is a movie based on a true story, we focused on how to present it as closely as possible to the truth. When working on the scenario, we minimized fiction as much as possible and paid more attention to the actual story.”

Director Kang Je-gyu also said, "Because it is a marathon movie, I tried to focus on the marathon. I paid attention to 'how to show and design the 42.195km' and 'how to show the marathon in an exciting way' during the scripting and filming stages", he said.

“We also focused on making Yim Siwan, who plays Seo Yun-bok, into a real marathon runner”, he added.

Ha Jung-woo played the role of Son Ki-jeong, a marathon gold medalist at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Ha Jung-woo will deliver a deep resonance by delicately expressing everything from Son Ki-jeong's anger at having to go up to the podium with another country's flag on his chest to the charismatic leadership of the national marathon team coach who became the first to participate in an international competition wearing the Taegeuk symbol in 1947.

Yim Siwan played the role of Seo Yun-bok, a member of the national team for the 1947 Boston Marathon. Yim Siwan, who played the role of an athlete in the JTBC drama 'Run On', which ended in February 2021 said,

"If you look at the shooting time instead, '1947 Boston' was actually the first time I encountered running." “I fell in love with it, so I joined a running crew and have been running ever since,” he said.

Yim Siwan then gave a special meaning to '1947 Boston', saying, "It was a special movie for me because it created a healthy hobby in my daily life, which is mainly just acting."

Director Kang Je-gyu also praised the high synchronization between Ha Jung-woo and Yim Siwan, who played real-life characters Son Ki-jeong and Seo Yun-bok, respectively. Director Kang Je-gyu said, "Yim Siwan joined when filming was about 15% complete, I was looking forward to that day, and

when I first saw Yim Siwan on the monitor, I remember muttering to myself, 'Seo Yun-bok has appeared.'"

He added, "There was a sense of unity between the Seo Yun-bok I knew in terms of image and the Seo Yun-bok I saw on the monitor.

“It was an experience that was so thrilling that it gave me goosebumps,” he confessed.

Yim Siwan made special efforts to recreate the physique of a marathoner by lowering his body fat to 6%. Yim Siwan said, "First of all, because it was my first time running a marathon, I was training with a coach for two months before the filming began. I tried to become as similar as possible in a short period of time. I had to look like a marathoner on the outside, so I remembered doing both dieting and exercising until the end of the filming. It was the first time that I achieved 6% body fat in my life, so I was so amazed as well,” he said.

Director Kang Je-gyu is a box office master who changed the paradigm of the Korean film industry with films such as ‘Ginkgo Bed’, ‘Shiri’, and ‘Taegeukgi’, so expectations for ‘1947 Boston’ were high. However, '1947 Boston' was released three and a half years after finishing filming in January 2020 due to the aftermath of COVID-19.

Director Kang Je-gyu said, "There are many movies released during Chuseok, and I think it would be a good opportunity to experience various genres. There is pressure about box office success. Above all, what this movie has is a precious story that is not well known to us." “I hope that the message, challenge, and passion that I want to send through the story will be conveyed to many people.”
