13th Anniversary of Siwan's debut as a K-pop star with his group ZE:A

Thirteen years back Siwan made his first appearance as a K-pop idol. Here are a few throwbacks from that time.

Here's the original video that was released on 15th January 2010. You can barely see Siwan - but the energy & the synergy of the group comes across very well.

Here is Siwan's Fan-cam coverage of the first anniversary of the same song, exactly after a year. Here you can see Siwan's confident self. Enjoying thoroughly and giving his all - even for a performance that nine talented boys are sharing.

Siwan's years with ZE:A seem to have shaped him as a performer. His comfort in front of the camera is apparent - this might be contributed to the hours of coverage he did for the behind-the-scenes. K-pop idols work very hard and, as a young talent, Siwan did too. This kind of grind gets you ready for anything that the world throws at you.

Here is my favourite ZE:A song...

Here is an old interview of Siwan. Thanks to a fellow Swan to have found this and sent it to me. In her words... "I think this a very precious record of Siwan’s early stage. The questions and his answers were not superficial but really looked into what he wanted to become. Back then he already had a clear idea about that. Looking back 9 years later now, he has clearly been on the right track, achieving his goals one by one. It’s also interesting to see that he was somewhat cautious and even stiff as if he was a student answering the headmaster’s questions or going through a job interview. That’s so adorable and really melts my heart."

This interview is a part of a DVD set that was released in Japan - The Huis Ten Bosch Story.

It is not fair for me to comment anything on ZE:A as I have been introduced to Siwan only since Run On got released on Netflix. There is a history to ZE:A that goes much before that - more than thirteen years - as they trained before they even released their first single. There are some fun videos online of the boys goofing around.

Here's a fun video where the Zea members are beatboxing! Watch Siwan do beatboxing is quite incredible!

Here is a nice medley showing the evolution of Ze:A. Gives context to those of us who missed this entire era.

Very honestly I am not a fan of Ze:A. The songs are quite run of the mill. But it is incredible that so many boys could come together and work as a team!

Here is are the boys goofing around on the Lazy song by Bruno Mars.

There are a zillion videos of the group. Here is a Siwan's edit for the song "Here I Am" - one of the most fun tracks, and seems to be one of Siwan's favourite.

Siwan is very much a part of that group - but I feel he has always been different. Like in behind the scenes video of the song Watch Out, Siwan stated playing with a fish prop - later on, everyone wanted to play/pose with it, but he was the one who started first.

In another such video, when they are waiting for a performance to start - everyone is busy doing some random tactics on BTS camera - Siwan goes and sits quietly and reads through a book. Here's that video.

He was never aloof - there are many videos & pictures of him having fun with his gang. But he has always been his own man, it seems.

Here's a fun clip where the MC asked when does Siwan feels most sexy. He replies when he is fresh out of a shower... and then he enacts the same. It's super hilarious! Here's the source for this clip.

Here is a fun interview of Ze:a Five with English Subtitles.

Here's another (older) interview with English subtitles. Siwan rarely speaks, but whenever he does, he speaks very well. He is a great listener and you can see that he doesn't interrupt anyone - but he is still very much participating in the discussions. I have cued this video to my favourite question.

Here's Siwan enjoying a joy ride with Minwoo and laughing his heart out!

Here's a sweet montage on Ze:A's 2014 anniversary...

Here's a sweet Music Video for their song "Step by Step"... followed by it's behind the scenes... Love Siwan's tactics in the making video... sad that it didn't make it to the edit of the official video...
